Call for Submissions

Submissions Open: 1 December 2020
Submissions Closing Date: 9 June 2021

The Organising Committee of SOCCON 2021 are looking for passionate people to present hands-on interactive workshops at SOCCON 2021! This is an exciting opportunity for us to cement the Social Sciences as an integral component of the New Zealand Curriculum.

The theme for this year is Embracing Change and will allow for exploration in the areas of new approaches and dealing with our ever-changing world. Workshop ideas outside of the theme may be considered and are welcome. It is noted that sponsors/exhibitors may like to have a workshop and the SOCCON committee are planning on having a blocked/set time when workshops by exhibitors/sponsors will be delivered.

Potential topics could include:

  • All Social Science subjects taught in Primary and Secondary schools
  • NCEA Change
  • Pedagogical Approaches
  • Social Science Assessment approaches
  • Primary Social Studies approaches - big focus for 2021
  • New initiatives from government and NGO’s
  • New ways of teaching and learning in this ever-changing world
  • Junior Social Studies
